Graduate Case Study: Richard

August 13th, 2009 -

prograd and dialogue success story

Richard was originally born in South Africa. He moved to New Zealand with his family when he was young and attended school and university there. Before applying to ProGrad Richard had worked for 2 years in a corporate sales role for an online accommodation company in Queensland.

After applying for a ProGrad role online, Richard was taken through a telephone interview and invited to attend a Sydney assessment day. “It was pretty nerve racking but is a good introduction to performing under pressure in a business environment.” Richard, ProGrad Graduate.

Richard was a stand out candidate at the assessment day and was quickly sent out to a number of job interviews with ProGrad client partners. “ I was offered 2 roles but accepted the Dialogue role as it had more potential and was more face-to-face.”

Richard joined the sales team at Dialogue, a telecommunications organisation that specializes in mobile advertising, billing and business solutions. His role there is to prospect new leads, cold call, set appointments and close business deals.

Richard has returned to the ProGrad offices 3 times in the past 8 months to attend training courses to assist him in becoming successful within his role. When asked his advice for other graduates thinking of applying to ProGrad, Richard responded” there is no better way to begin your career.”

Graduates Training Feedback

August 7th, 2009 -

ProGrad is an assessment, placement and training centre that aims at assisting recent university graduates in securing a full time position within a fast growing international company. Once we place graduates into client partner companies of ours, we invite them back to attend 4 training courses in their first year of employment.

ProGrad Module 1: An Introduction to Professional Sales and Marketing is a 3 day course that is run to assist graduates in learning the business basics such as time management, goal setting and how to build a strong pipeline.

Below are some comments that were left by Sydney ProGrad graduates who attend the Module 1 course in July.

“Kingsley is an engaging and extremely likeable speaker. The course gave me a clearer sense of understanding and also actually really motivated me to set achievable and measurable career related goals.” David, ProGrad Graduate.

“The trainer made it easy to participate and very engaging. Excellent use of real life credible examples made it really interesting.” Jess, ProGrad Graduate

“The workshop was very much applied to the business world and the examples used were very beneficial. I found the course overall to be very enjoyable and memorable.” Lucas, ProGrad Graduate

Here at ProGrad the more feedback we receive the better! If you have recently been through a ProGrad training course, please feel free to let us know what you thought of the course by calling the ProGrad Graduate Management team in Sydney on 02 8235 8300.

It Can’t Hurt Being Open Minded…

August 3rd, 2009 -

Here at ProGrad we speak to hundreds of graduates each week that are looking to kick start their career. One of the major issues we are faced with is graduates who come to us with very specific requirements about what kind of role they are looking for.

I recently spoke to a graduate who only wanted to work in Sydney’s CBD and who wanted to work for a large Media organisation. She was very particular about the kind of company she wanted to work in and therefore missed out on hearing about a lot of exciting opportunities that she would have been very suitable for.

The ProGrad graduate team recommends any graduate looking for a full time position to be as open as possible in their search and focus on getting a role within a organisation that can help them learn and develop as much as possible.

If you are a recent graduate who is looking to start your career, please call the ProGrad management team on 02 8235 8300 or visit our website at www.prograd.com.au

Feedback from the ProGrad Assessment Day

July 31st, 2009 -

“First of all, I would like to thank you and the rest of the staff at Prograd that helped to see me through the Assessment day.

It was a very enriching experience and your talk particularly, left me very inspired. Job applications and interviews has always given me the jitters, but yesterday I got out of Prograd thinking  ‘Another interview?… Bring it on!’ I only hope I can maximize the tips you shared with us.”

ProGrad Graduate Feedback

July 31st, 2009 -

As an organisation, ProGrad continues to gain feedback from graduates that have completed our training courses in order to continually change and adapt to ensure the modules are all helpful and effective. Out feedback forms allow graduates to comment on the workshop structure, relevance, effectiveness and whether it can be allied to their roles.

Leigh, a ProGrad graduate started his role within a business to business sales team over 9 months ago. After attending Module 4: Key Account Management he left with the following feedback: “I found the course to be very applicable to my role where I look after our bronze accounts. The use of real life examples in parts of the course help make the links between the topics and my role. Overall I think the training is a good indicator on what styles/techniques I do/should use and the associated results they can bring.”
