ProGrad 3 Minute Presentation

March 11th, 2010 -

The 3 minute presentation:

During the ProGrad Assessment Day, you are asked to deliver a three-minute presentation titled, “Why should we select you for a career in business to business sales?”

This presentation should be prepared in advance of the day to ensure you do well.  Here are some hints and tips which might assist you in preparing.

When you enter the presentation room, you will be faced by a panel of assessors and clients.  As soon as you walk into the room, they will put three minutes on the stop-watch and your time begins.  Your presentation should be well structured and well rehearsed.  You are welcome to use palm cards or notes if that makes you feel more comfortable.  Often, we see candidates using visual aids (such as handouts) which can really leave an impact with the panel.  Please bear in mind that with so many presentations being viewed, it can work well to take a unique approach.

There is a title of the presentation which does need to be addressed.  Please do talk about the reasons why you feel you are suitable for a career in business to business sales.  Do some research about what a role in B2B sales involves and then discuss why you feel it would be a suitable career path.

ProGrad are able to offer assistance with your presentation prior to the day and therefore we encourage you to send us your speech in advance so that we can assist you as required.

If you have any questions about the 3 minute presentation which needs to be prepared, please contact one of the ProGrad Graduate Management Team on 02 8235 8300.

Effective presentation techniques

February 23rd, 2010 -

Here at ProGrad we hold ‘ProGrad assessment day’s’ where graduates have the opportunity to attend and receive valuable hints and tips when stepping out into the workforce.

Before the assessment days we ask our candidates to prepare a 3minute speech. Below are a few tips on how to effectively give a presentation, even while your palms are sweating and you are feeling queasy. If you apply these tips no one will even know you are packing it on the inside.

* Be confident! This is key in any presentation. Even if you are nervous just pretend you are confident you would be surprised how much of a difference this makes.

* Have conviction. Believe in what you are saying. This way you sound credible and can persuade your audience.

* Body language is important. Do not sway when you are speaking, but take on a confident stance. Hand gestures can be used in the execution of your speech.

* Use eye contact. The worst thing you could do in a presentation is read off your notes. Although having palm cards is good in a speech as it can assist you and makes you look well prepared on the day, they should only be used as a guide. To really connect with your audience eye contact is essential.

What to expect at a ProGrad assessment day

February 14th, 2010 -

The graduates that have passed the telephone interview and are fortunate enough to attend a ProGrad assessment day will be assessed on key competencies that will be suitable for a Business to Business sales role.

Graduates will be assessed as soon as they walk through the door on:

·         The way they present themselves. It is important that you wear corporate attire. It is a formal business interview so please wear a suit or dress pants/skirt and a shirt.

·         The way they introduce themselves to the other graduates on the day. You will have your chance to introduce yourself to the group. Here it is important to be confident!

·         During the group games it is important that you show that you can work in a team environment and make sure you get involved!

·         Then it is time for your 3 minute presentation. Once again we are looking for confident candidates. Believe in what you are presenting to us and go for your life! It is a good idea to put your speech onto palm cards to assist you but to also make you look well prepared!
