Working for ProGrad has been such a great experience and learning curve for me. Let me tell you, you don’t stop learning after you finish university! There are actually so many things I overlooked entering the business world. But I am now greatful that I have had the chance to experience them in variety.

I have been at ProGrad a month now and I look forward to continue developing my skills and take on more responsibility.

Have you recently started a full time job from university and would like to share your experiences? I would love to hear them! You can start a discussion on our Facebook fan page or email me directly at nicola@prograd.com.au.

So you’re a graduate who want to be in Marketing?

March 7th, 2010 -

As a recent graduate, competition to get into your desired career path can be tough. When competition is thick and desire is strong, graduates usually start at the bottom of a company and work their way up. This usually involves admin, coffee runs, etc.

But have you thought that there may be alternative ways to start your Marketing career than just doing the coffee runs? Have you considered business to business sales?

A business to business sales role allows a graduate to deal directly with large names in the business. This can give you many advantages and it is also a great way to really get to know the ins and outs of the business world and the company that you are working for. All in all business to business sales is a great way to kick start your career!

ProGrad specialises in placing graduates into business to business sales roles in a whole variety of sectors. To find out more visit our website, www.prograd.com.au or contact us directly on (02) 8235 8300

WOMM yourself!

March 1st, 2010 -

Word of Mouth Marketing (WOMM) is very effective in the sense of self promotion! If you want to get out there and secure yourself a high position in the business world, you can network with WOMM.

Get out there and meet people! Go to places where you know successful business people will be and meet them and SELL yourself to them, in a way that is discreet. When you are in a social environment there is so much less pressure about selling yourself. Just get to know people and ask questions. When they ask you what you do, then you say you are currently looking for a job, etc. If they have warmed up to you, they will suggest you to friends or to their own company if they are looking to hire.

WOMM can be so powerful. But first you need to be proactive. When you get out there, meet people, and network, you will get to experience the power of WOMM and see how your brand (which is YOU!) will grow and get known in the business realm.
