Key Performance Indicators are generally describes as success indicators. The smaller goals and objectives set by a business in order to assist in reaching an overall organisational goal. At ProGrad, we are strongly commited to setting goals and KPIs for our team members to ensure they reach their personal and professional goals and objectives.
In a sales environment KPI’s are generally the number of phone calls made, meetings booked or products sold. This structure is still required in other areas of business. Even for graduates that work within a marketing/ HR/ admin environment, it is essential they have short term and long term goals to work towards. Graduates crave structure and discipline, and management need to provide this in order to maintain their interest and commitment.
When setting KPIs it is essential to ensure they are measureable and that they lead to long term goals. As an organisation gets closer to its long term goals, the KPIs may change or adjust accordingly. It is simply required to communicate this to the teams. Management need to be clear about their expectations of employees at all times.
Overall, if KPIs are set correctly and monitored and changed when needed they can be used as a very powerful tool to target and acheiev long term organizational growth and success.
